The World Cup!!! (and Nolan)

First things first. I wasn’t really planning on putting more photos of Nolan up for a week or two, because, well… newborns aren’t really that photogenic with all the baby acne, loose skin and whatnot. Around two weeks they gain back some weight and start to look a bit healthier. My point is validated by the pictures we got back from the hospital photographer. We dropped $100+ on a package of photos they shot the day after he was born. We received them a couple of days ago and they are so Photoshopped (retouched), I can barely recognize him.
Well, of course grandparents don’t care what he looks like as long as they get their pictures. So head on over to the Gallery and get your fix.
Also…
I know how much Americans love soccer (almost as much as cold, dry toast) so this probably won’t turn your crank as much as it did mine, but the World Cup Trophy is on tour and it’s second stop was in Singapore. It was only here for a day, so Liam and I jumped in the car after dinner and headed to Suntec City (mall) to see it. We had to stand in line for about half and hour and then they made us sit through a silly (and extremely loud) movie to get us pumped up for the World Cup matches which start in June. Then we stood in another line for about 10 minutes and then BINGO we got our 2.5 seconds of glory standing next to the Cup while someone snapped a Polaroid of us.
It may seem a little silly to go to the effort, but this is probably the most valuable trophy in the world.. the thing is 11 pounds of pure gold (from what they told us… try touching it and they’d have 15 dudes on you before you can say “Oguchi Onweyu”.)
Christina and I (and Liam if I can brainwash him) are actually pretty excited about the World Cup this year. The U.S. has a good team, but they got hosed by being placed in what is probably the toughest preliminary group. You can read more about the World Cup here if you want to join the rest of the world in enjoying the biggest sporting event on Earth. But the World Baseball Classic is nice too.
