So It Begins

So It Begins

The World Cup kicked off last night at midnight and Christina and I stayed up to see the opening match between Germany and Costa Rica. We are both more excited for the World Cup this year than in year’s past which is probably due to the ridiculous amount of advertising for it and the surprising degree of excitement that Singaporeans have for it.
We subscribed to the Pay-per-view package (cost a whole $10), so we can watch all the games. Starhub (the local cable provider) has dedicated 4 channels to the World Cup broadcast. During the game last night, we could watch the standard ‘side to side’ view on one channel, a view of the length of the field on another channel or 2 other channels which single out one player on each team and follows them about. The last 3 channels are kinda worthless, but it would be cool to see them all up at once at a bar or something.
Liam is on the World Cup bandwagon as well. Ever since we went to see the trophy in person he yells “World Cup” whenever he sees the trophy – which is pretty much everywhere. (The uniform and soccer ball are courtesy of our friend Angie in Germany.)

Nolan doesn’t seem to care as much about the World Cup, but he’ll come around. He’s mostly into eating and pooping right now. He also gets a kick out of his ‘new’ Exersaucer. I don’t think he’s supposed to be using it yet, but the kid is built like a bowling ball. He’s also getting pretty chatty which keeps things entertaining.
