Coldplay Concert

Coldplay was in town last night and I managed to get my hands on a couple of tickets. Unfortunately, Christina had to go out of town for work so I invited a friend and we walked the 5 minutes from our apartment to the Singapore Indoor Stadium which is basically just across a short pedestrian bridge.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good arena rock show and they didn’t disappoint – Giant video screens… lasers… the works.
Here’s a video that someone managed to edit and post within 24 hours of the show:

As I mentioned, it has been a while since I’ve been to a big concert and one thing that I found interesting was that the moment the house lights went down for the show to start, a sea of faint blue lights from people’s camera phones popped on across the audience. It was reminiscent of the good old days when people would lift their lighters during the show, but much safer. Of course this is Singapore and something like 98% of the population has at least one mobile phone, so maybe this is a regional thing. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen as much enthusiasm for audience participation at a concert. When the band suggested that the audience clap along, everyone’s hands were in the air right on cue. It was actually a little unnerving.

In other news:

  • Nolan is starting to sit up.
  • Liam is beginning to live up to his “terrible” potential.
  • Christina returns from her 2 day trip tomorrow (Thank God.)
