Rain Rain, Go Away.

Normally Singaporeans don’t chit-chat about the weather like your typical American. You can usually count on it to be pretty much the same everyday. Hot, Maybe some brief rain. It has been a bit different for the last couple days though. It has been raining here – like a lot. Not constantly, but when it lets loose its like a firehose. Liam and I stepped out onto the patio to watch the downpour yesterday. Not only was the rain torrential, but the wind was whipping around at a pretty good clip as well. In fact, as we watched, with the weird aerodynamics between the condo towers (we’re on the 10th floor) it was raining UP from time to time. And although we are sheltered by the patios above us, we would occasionaly get a blast of wet mist into our porch which Liam thought was pretty fun.
Liam, Nolan and I have been trying to kick a cold bug for the last few days. It’s not a particularly strong cold, just a runny nose and some congestion. Liam has been clearing his throat like a 60 yr. old coal miner and Nolan will just be sitting there then, with a quck sneeze, blows a handful of snot onto whatever is sitting in front of him. Lovely.
Christina has been very busy with work lately. Lots of late nights and post-dinner conference calls.
I’m busy planning my upcoming trips to the U.S. and India. (FYI – my U.S. trip has been delayed one week, so if I’ve made plans with you, I’ll be in touch to reschedule.)
I also was insane enough to start a fantasy soccer league and signed up a few suckers (er, friends) to play. So on top of the 2 U.S. fantasy NFL football leagues that I’m in, I am keeping track of the English Premiership soccer leauge as well. It’s certainly different, but easier to follow in Singapore since ESPN is pretty much wall to wall soccer here. I originally picked a bunch of Americans to be on my team but soon saw the folly of that scheme and have since axed all but three of them.
Nolan had his 6 month pediatrician appt. last week and for those of you keeping score at home, he came through like gang busters. 20 lbs! Three pounds more than Liam at that age. He’s now looking rather plump. The doctor recommended we get him going on veggies which we have done with the unfortunate side effect of super nasty diaper deposits.
In closing, and of course, apropos of nothing, here’s a blast from the past:
