India, Part 8: Lunch Break at the Beach

India, Part 8: Lunch Break at the Beach

Posted on 25. Jan, 2008 by in Uncategorized

It took us ’til Wednesday to figure out that there was a full-on beach just 5 minutes from our worksite. So after a few of us quickly crammed some lunch down our throats, we grabbed our cameras and headed east, across an open field to the beach. I’m not sure what the kids were doing hanging around us all day. If I were them, I’d be here all day, every day. It was a little odd to see a herd of goats grazing nearby. There were also some pretty hardcore fisherman that swam their nets out to sea. I’m not sure what they were catching or how they got it back to shore. I never saw them return.

The village’s relationship with the sea must be of the Love-Hate variety due to the tsunami in 2005. I’m not exactly sure to what extent this area was damaged.  I doubt it would even be possible to calculate accurate numbers, but I’m sure no one around here will forget about it too soon.
After our seaside break it was back to work.
